This piece is known in places like Portugal or Brazil as the "Fig" sign or "Dulya". The hand gesture is a sign of fertility, good luck and retains spiritual significance as a talisman to ward off evil spirits. In other cultures is the equivalent of giving someone the bird. Either way, it's pretty rockin'. It is hand carved of a very solid and heavy wood, perhaps Mahogany. Add to your mantle, bookshelf or dresser to show off your unique style.
